i'm just getting into using after effects and am wanting to start playing with some vfx shots, compositing 3d elements into a scene, etc. everything's a bit overwhelming at this point tho, any advice on where to start? i've been browsing some of the other book and info threads but there's doesn't seem to much "how-to" in there. any ideas? thanks.

well i am sure if you went on google and typed in "after effects tutorials" you would find a whole bunch, that really is the best place to start......start with titorials then start making up your own when you feel comfortable

its not so much learning after effects, i've got several books and i've been working on tutes for a while and am familiar with a lot of the program. most of those, however, are motion design and animation-based and don't have a lot to do with vfx, at least not directly.
