I'm just curious about which platform Shake users on vfxtalk are using. I'm seriously thinking about either getting an old Win version or getting an old Mac to dig into the world of Shake but what platform is the best? (Linux is too expensive, but if you've got experience with it do tell)
Has anyone tried all of them..... or how about just sharing your experience on the platform you're currently using?
Linux?
Windows?
Mac?

An old mac doesn't seem anywhere near as sexy as an old shake version on a good pc ;) Shake is all about nittygritty hardcore compositing and not so much about new fancy features, so you can do a good job on an older version, not that much have changed in v3.

Hi oxide!

Well it seems apple dosen't want to release the windows version of Shake 3.0, for the reason that it will be cracked soon. :D

Well i'm using Shake 3.0 on Mac G5, well it works fine, but sometimes, crashes  , i'm just waiting to get a linux version of shake 3 and see how it is works, i love to work on linux.

Regarding running old version of shake on PC, i don't see any problems, but if u work on 3.0 and go back to old version, u won't like it. :)

The programmer’s at large houses are prolly more accustomed the shake source code than the programmers at apple.
