Hi everyone,

When i render with Mental Ray i use the mia simple exposure lens shader to see how my renders look with gamma and compression applied to it.
But i want to render them out linear and make these adjustments later in the Nuke.
I've tried the NFX tonemapper, with nice results though i would like to have some more control.
Does anybody have any thoughts or an idea how to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Ron

I've glanced over the shader and it doesn't appear to be to hard to create a gizmo or plugin which mimics it. I cant make no promises but I'll try and mess with it later today and see if I can't work on such a thing.

Hey Nrgy...

This shader has basically been out-moded since 8.5 with a newer tonemapper that is called mia_exposure_photographic. This shader is a lot more powerful and functions much more like a camera. I would love to see something like this in Nuke.

sl0throb, I believe Maya 8.5 has Mental Ray 3.6 or is it Maya 2008....? I use 3dsmax 9 which has an older version.
But what I was looking for is a similar way to use the functions this shader has in Nuke, without using it in Mental Ray.

Nrgy, thanks for looking into this, hope you can find some time.
Maybe you can share some thoughts, ideas or links where I can look into to create this.

Thanks,
Ron

Yes I understand...all I am saying is that I would like to see a more robust tone mapper in Nuke ala the new shader in MR which gives more a photographic look and is more intuitive and will still accomplish the sames things as mia_exposure_simple
