This might be of interest to macro authors, expression writers, and people wanting to customise the controls on built-in tools.
I've just posted a fairly involved script (http://vfxpedia.com/index.php?title=Useful_Scripts#Tool_Scripts) to VFXpedia. This script allows you to add, remove and edit controls of many types to tools in Fusion 5.2.
This can be particularly useful for e.g. adding higher-level controls to a macro that drive other internal controls by means of expressions. You can also use it to hide controls you don't use from built-in tools, or to simplify the interface with replacement controls and expressions.
Give it a shot, and let me know what you think.
