Any ideas on the next challenge?

I guess the admins are on extended va-cay, since they haven't been around since mid-december. Are they always this tardy with updates? Who won the Grand Prize for Challenges#3? Anyone know? Will February come and go without the start of Challenge 401? Will Martin become "the artist fomerly known as Martin" this season? Stay tuned - or add your own input. It's funny, I miss going thru all the new posts. I kinda started to get used to it.

just my two cents, but i'd really like to do alone some of the stuff that studios do in departments (since the deadlines are much longer), and be filmic about it.

Are there any other sites that have similar competitions? I have seen Worth1000 for photoshop and photography but I haven't seen any others for general vfx work.

Of course the ideal situation would be for the people that run this site to come out of hibernation.

yes sorry we have been hibernating :) 2008 has been very busy for us and vfxtlak took a back seat for a while, but now things will start to pick up again

we are currently closing out vfx series 3 and will be coming out with a series 4 as soon as we have nailed down the sponsors and what the prizes will be for series 4!

we are also working on installing a good video script as a big problem with the voting has been getting the submissions up for everyone to see

From what I heard from Jah, Ribbit Films has agreed to sponsor new challenges. I received an e-mail from him regarding the 1st place prize I won from VFX-310. It's been 6 long months since that contest, but I should be getting the Mac-Mini this week finally. Maybe this means things will start rolling again. I hope. In the meantime, I've been learning Maya - so beware all you 3D guru's..... HAHA LOL.

(of course, the next challenge will probably not require anything 3D. Murphy's Law.)

I think a lot would like to see the challanges back but I don't think it will - otherwise check out cgtalk's FX challenges - I haven't checked them out my self but it might be something ...

I think we can take a shot from any film (like Matrix or else) and do something there.. Add or remove something.. or rotoscope an actors and replace to own cg environment..
