I think that the best definition of geek is one who has no idea of who is playing in the Super Bowl until they sit down to watch the commercials :) Me, I am a total geek...

hehe - if I were in the US, the commercials would be the only reason I'd think about watching the SuperBowl - as it is, I certainly don't watch it over here - I just find the adverts on the internet later!

LOL, the classic question would be ..... "what's a superbowl"

Is that like the US "World Series" with no international teams or something?

Hey. the World Series includes Canadian baseball teams too! Both teams. That should count, shouldn't it?

Shouldn't it?

Sounds of crickets......

I know I'm gonna get beaten over the head for this, but CRICKET IS THE MOST BORING GAME EVER INVENTED!!!! Jeez! I thought baseball was slow, but a cricket game lasts days! months! years!
Any game where it's okay to drink tea while you watch it... It makes golf look manly!
And before you call me a provincial Yank, I lived five years in Jamaica and was forced at gunpoint to play it in school.
Here's the criteria for a good sporting event: if they serve lots of beer in really big cups, it's a game. Football (ours or yours) is a game. Cricket is dare I say it --- British!

Patiently awaiting the flames.

Obviously this man has never been to the Embankment at The Basin for a test, when the beer is flowing, the sun is shining and half the ladies are wearing bodypaint (I shit you not) and the other half are eithier in bikinis or in something skimpy!

You want boring? Hard to understand ... American Football

:die: FLAME ON

And getting back to the ORIGINAL topic ...

l33tZ0mb13g33k0r has a point .... I think the defintion is to do with obsession ... A Geek will and does obsess about his or her chosen obsession (so few femgeeks™ in the world ... *sigh*) and this is a Good thing (the obsession) because they get VERY VERY good at it ...

A nerd? My poke at it would be that while a geek obsesses, yet still has a "life" as such, a partner, kids even sometimes .. a nerd has nothing but their obsession ...

Also, there are many many kinds of Geek ... animation geeks, graphics geeks, film geeks, coding geeks, the list goes on ....

There isnt anything wrong with american football, if you could lose the helmets, the pads, the time outs and the soccer reject kickers...lil bit surprised that the Kiwi contingent is sticking up for cricket? :sleepy: What about that group of black clad gents, that happen to play a real game?

(...lamenting the fact that the Amecian Eagleswill probably never take out anyone other than like iceland in an international test)
