What with the hype of the new Bond film arriving i thought i'd have a bash at doing a bond homage. When i was a kid, Connery was Bond. Massively iconic and helping forge the Bond brand i think it's only fitting i make him as my 3d characture.

I'm think I'm going to make the famous Bond opening sequence, then with a twist.

But first i have to make Sean. Below is my first effort. Modeling heads is a nightmare..

I must stress i work fast but this is very early days.

Here we go I'm jumping straight in with a big style change.

As this will be done cartoon style i've gone for the sketch style t/map and made the face a little more exaggerated..

Usually i make sketches when i embark on a new project but i couldn't get them looking good enough so i've gone straight to the computer.

Moving on, as i like to push things forward.

I've started off with a sort of Rayman approach to my character..

At the moment the gun only consists of 4 polygons and can only be seen from this angle.

Here is another little update, a tidier neck & shoes..

The extreme white and letter boxing is in preparation for the bond gun barrel effect.

Here is the next update, now with the hero donning a bow tie and even a set of ears to hear the secret agent things a secret agent has to hear..

I've also cleaned up the head once more, given him a neck (which will help when i get to the animation phase). The texture of the gun has also been updated.

Next up I'm thinking of giving him a proper body, still stumpy, but then with arms..

I will post a quicktime vr in my next post to give you a better idea of my guys 3dness.

For now i've changed the style a little, rigged arms etc.

Not very talkative you lot, are you?

Still not sure about the new or old style, but I've added legs to this version anyway to make him look a little less like ET..

Here is the quicktime vr i mentioned earlier..

You can see my little guy only really works from this side, from the opposite side there is a whole load of Cary Grant going on?!

I've also added the pre-hypnernurbs wireframe.

As for the car, i've been busy with the wheels and starting on the gadgets (not yet visible).

Love the style on the car, I think the character's body is also great. Really clean whereas the head is still a bit messy. Will definitely be watching this thread.

It looks good but I think car is too clear, and maybe you can add some text to car, like car name ..

I agree that though the lowered one looks cool, for the purposes of this clip the normal one wins.

Here is a test animation i made to see how the car handles, rendered low model resolution and without driver..

What do you think?
