Hello,
I am a Motion graphics artist working in an IT company (yeah it kinda odd) and I am currently working on a pipeline for our company's Post Prod development endeavor. I have been searching for some time now of as to which Match-moving app would best fit our pipeline. Ive search through different sites and forums and it seems that it is Syntheyes, PFTrack and Boujou has the most votes. Does anybody have any opinion of which program is better than the other?
Your immediate (and positive) response will be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Ken:)

I worked for 2 years with boujou and i was very happy with the results, a year ago i switched to Pftrack and i feel it is a better/faster tracker. Of course technology advances and so do the processors which is probably why i feel it is faster. I work mostly on 2k plates and pftrack has not let me down, i feel it is more powerful and flexible, i dont think ill be going back to boujou...
Hope this helps
Alex

I don't use any, but it's my understanding that Syntheyes is very good.

PF track should be a good choice. Better bang for your buck than boujou, if you ask me. Good flexibility in most cases. All levels of users should manage with it. If you want to go low budget Syntheyes will offer the same as PFTrack for a fraction of the price in a less elegant but more technical manner. So it's a question of what type of jobs you will handle.

Thanks for the tips Guys. My boss was asking for a cost of all the software we will be needing for post-production and that includes the match-moving tools. Again, thanks for your advices.
Thanks and regards,
Ken

If you have $5000 to blow, go with PFTrack. If you have $400, go with Syntheyes. If you only have $100 and really easily tracked shots, the makers of PFTrack have PFHoe. It works pretty well for simple shots. There is also a free one out there called Voodoo, but I don't know if it is still available. Cheers.

I've used both pfTrack and boujou and I found both to be very strong programs. pfTrack is a technically better program but not as easy to use, boujou was super user friendly and still incredibly strong so between the two of them I prefer boujou. But I must admit that pfTracks geo track is insanely awesome.

There was also Icarus which if I remember correctly was where PFTrack started and was free for non-commercial works.

SynthEyes. It's not perfect but definitely best from all commercially available tracking software. Able to deal with most hardcore things, well sometimes not simple to control, but with recent improvements it became very good choice for automated and supersimple tasks too.
But again, it's NOT perfect, there are some small things in all other sw that are better than in SE. SE is just best overall. It's good to be able to use all of them, but it's rarely possible, I know. So go for demo versions and try which one suits your needs the best!
