Hey guys, I'm putting in a mirage on the (3D) road combined with heat waves for a TVC job. The 3D animation was submitted to me and I am using shake, and After Effects - Image Lounge's "Mirage" plugin. I think the heatwaves look nice, its just I am not happy with the mirage/reflection. And the bummer is it is very hard to find good reference material. I layered the reflection (with animated mask) over the top of the animation and then put the AE/Mirage on the top and bottom of that immediate horizon.

(I am aware of the dark line on the horizon)

I have attatched (hopefully) my current effort. I would appreciate advice on the mirage!
thanks for the help folks!
I know the file is kinda big, apologies

Looks pretty accurate. But remember, a mirage is heat waves bending light, and heat rises. Your mirage effect looks like its falling to gravity and needs to rise up. Keep working on it. It looks great.

This might help for reference. If you search more within that link, you'll find more examples: http://www.sonypicturesstockfootage.com/footage/detail.aspx?aid=25484
