Hello

I am working on a project with a lot of camera mapping;
I need the matte painters to save their layers in openexr with the alpha of each layer.
Is it possible to automatized this?
I saw that in photoshop there's a script called "Exporting layers to files" but it doesn't allow you to choose the exr format, and most of all, it doesn't save an alpha for each layer. Can somebody help me with that?

Gabi,

I'll PM you the script I wrote to do this tonight.

And No, I'm not going to willy-nilly share it with everyone. So don't ask people! ;) I still haven't decided whether I'm going to sell it or release it for free.

I'm mildly confused as to why this is a great idea. I've jumped through a few comping apps - and they've all had a way to import a photoshop file in their respective layers from the original PSD without having to convert to another format. Just a little curious as to what comping app you're using.

As a long time friend of Mordecai his scripts are awesome, he also spends a lot of valuable time on them.

Depending on what comping package your using there may be some down sides. After Effects is the only one that doesnt have a ton of draw backs, and it because its from Adobe. You wouldnt be able to import a 16bit matte painting into something like nuke without setting individual files for each layer.
