I realize this topic has been discussed before, but I didn't have much luck finding decent information. I am working on three day for night shots and I want you guys to list EVERYTHING I need to keep in mind to make it as realistic as possible. My novice observational skills lead me to believe the images will need to be desaturated, blue biased, and more contrasty.

Please!! Any advice on standard technique would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you so much,

Russell

Any chance of seeing an example. It all depends on the footage of course. I've just looked at a day-for-night shot that I - sort of - did. I say 'sort of' since it was a shot with a sun shining straight into the lens flares and all, with no detail in the rest of the footage, shot from a shaky helicopter with no cameradata whatsoever. In retrospect I should've done a matte-painting and start from scratch since fixing it was never really feasible. The director even mentions that he isn't happy with it in the DVD-commentary. Whish I had a commentary track concerning the cameraman :-(
