My first ever Tv spot

Heya Guys,

I am new to the forum, so be nice.

This is a copy of my first ever tv commercial. The first half is motion graphics made in after effects. The second half is video footage shot on a panasonic vx-1000 and then taken into boujou, tracked, and then the lines were animated in max, and finally all was composited in after effects. I am extremely proud of this for my first effort, as I have never mixed 3d and live footage together before.

I am currently working on pre-production of a film, and as I am the head of everything geek (as the team like to call it - eg all VFX and CG) I will spending a lot of time on this forum bleeding you all dry for information.

This was done by myself for the office store I am working in part time to pay for my *ahem* bar bill.

I have been freelancing for years as a graphic designer and web designer, but have wanted to get into motion graphics for a while. I have done a few projects through uni but nothing commercially. I managed to convince the manager at work that I could make him a good tv ad. Luckily he loved the ad.

The ad was all done by me, from shooting, sound design, animation and compositing. It was fun going trough the project and working out the best way to do it .. I hadn't done it before and had no info to reference from so had to make it up as I went along.

As far as the film goes, its a dark historical/fantasy film based in 13th century germany during the plague. Obviously I can't tell more than that. Four of us have been working on it for over a year and are now living in a warehouse in Richmond working on it full time.

Actually I'm going to be assembling the fx team soon. We plan to have young artists and designers involved with little or no industry experience, which hopefully will help us get funding from the government, and then have a series of industry professionals working as mentors helping to teach the team in their chosen areas, so if any of you are interested, let me know.

So yeah, pretty interesting times ahead for me, so I will be asking a lot of questions about fx and compositing as well as guidance on running and managing an effects team.

Sounds very cool ...like lots of fun.

Depending on how things pan out for me after my course here in Sydney, I may be keen to jump on board and get stuck into evrtyhing i can ... id imagine you'd get a good response from the dlf and a few other melbournites here too
