Hi Guys...

I'm working in Combustion & can anyone of you help me in doing a
'Matte Painting'...I went thru a demo of the person worked for
'The Lord of the Rings' (he must have used layers of photographs, CG & Live shots) &
'Dare Devil'--(must be only photographs)
the work was amazing...
there were several layers...with a camera zoom in...

Now i'm trying to do something similar...

Sounds more like a job for Photoshop or maybe Painter, but not really for Combustion...

Anyway, there's a brand new site around that's dedicated just to this kind of stuff.

Go find it here: http://www.mattepainting.org/

The site boasts links to some matte painting tutorials, so this would be the way to go. Or head straight over to Gnomon's site and take a look at the new matte painting DVDs by Dusso (who worked on LOTR):

Part I: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/ydu01.html
Part II: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/ydu02.html

Hope this helps!

Well, I'd say that any prep work was done in PS.

Whatever comes next...they probably used camera mapping techniques.
