Hello,
new here, so if I'm on the wrong forum for this, plz redirect me.
I'm trying to capture footage on Hi-8 tape via a s-video cable trough a sony trv thats connected to my computer by firewire.
It should be possible, but I can't get it working.
Somebody good at this?
grtz

All Sonys are capable of in/out through the ports so you can definately do it with your cam. You just need to crash record with your miniDV. Do this by pressing BOTH the red record button next to your playback controls and the unmarked button directly next to it at the same time. If it's working a realtime picture of what you're recording should appear on the LCD or viewfinder. Having the firewire plugged in and hot at the same time may be causing you problems though. Lots of miniDV cameras can only handle either in or out, not both at the same time. So try pulling it out, crash record the Hi-8 onto miniDV tape then capture the miniDV as you normally would. Long way round, but it may be the only way.

My trv supports pass though so it should see anything the camera sees regardless of if its in vtr or camera mode (no buttons pushed)
