Ready for a move up?
You are a digital artist with a minimum of 2 years production experience with LightWave 3D and a major compositing package.
We are Eden FX.

I can't say about Eden but I work, off and on, for The Moving Picture Company in London and they regularly take people from training courses.
I've worked with people who, six months before, were in completely different lines of work.
Of course MPC has very specialized departments, and about 300 people in total, so they can pick people with the particular skills or software familiarity that they need for one project or task. For that sort of narrow work, experience is less important than the (perhaps) basic, but specific, knowledge.
I think that smaller firms look for more experienced people with broader skills?

I like it there a lot; the projects are interesting and the people (I've met) have been great.
I've done a lot of night shifts there as I don't mind those hours (I'm not a morning person), especially with the free meal and (if you live in London) a taxi home thrown in.
The place is geared up for big projects; hundreds of FX shots per film, so you're in a particular department; 3D, FX, compositing, Roto etc. It's a production line where you do your own job, not any of the others.
But as I say, that's fine with me, I like it there.

I take it that you worked in the roto department? I bet that was fun....i like late night hours and free food.....i want to be a matte artist or compositor at mpc that would be fun and that is what i am spending my time on at school.

Keep an eye on the website;

They generally say they want "2 Years of Production Experience" though for Compositors. You might have better luck in the Matte Painting Department as that's still a rapidly growing area and there's not QUITE enough artists to meet demand yet.
If you want to comp at MPC then about a year in Roto should see you moved into that area. In quieter times they're pretty good about letting people try stuff too.
Good luck.

Yes. We do hire people out of schools, and we also have a couple internships each year. Of course, learning some lightwave would be good. Lightwave and Maya experience is best for us seeing that is what we use.
At this moment we are specifically looking for a few experienced LW artists to help with growing in house projects. But I would recomend anyone send in their demo, because we are constantly looking for new artists!
We do not use shake at this moment, but use AE and Digital Fusion. Shake modeled its interface off of fusion, so the way you work in fusion is similar.
