I'm just hoping that this means that it costs about £600 (UKP) over here in UK.
does anyone know what the difference between the simple one ($995) and the 'Production Bundle' (about $1600)?

hey hugh,
Im not sure about the 'production bundle'...where did you see that??
Im pretty sure its just a single version product: have a look here (http://estore.discreet.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry10?V1=481349&PN=1&SP=10023&xid=37482&DSP=&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=66764)
Also, im pretty sure it'll be around 600 pounds

Ahhh - I misread a line in this article (http://www.3dfestival.com/story.php?story_id=554) (on 3DFestival.com (http://www.3dfestival.com/)) - it was talking about the After Effects production bundle.....
Any idea whether this is time-limited at all?

I've just spoken to a Discreet reseller over here in UK, and he told me that, while he doesn't know how long the price drop will be around for, he thinks that it may just be short-term. It will definately be there until the end of the month, but beyond that, who knows....
If anyone else is interested, the current lower price here in UK is £725.

nice one!!!.... i wonder why Discreet has gone to these drastic measures ??? I hope its not some last ditch effort to attract Combustion users  ...I read somewhere that more than half of the Combustion developers were asked to relocate to Discreets new HQ in California somewhere...and they all took voluntary redundancy and went and got jobs developing Shake!!!
i hope its for the best...only time will tell
cheers mate

If anyone is serously into compositing and post effects then Combustion is a definate app to check out. Having sampled the delights of the demo I can say that it has some very powerful features. The particle effects for instance are among one of my favourates. Simple and very easy to use, its something to have a looks at!
The price drop should give people another added insentive to buy now!
