Hey
looks like your well on your way, seeing what you done there has given me ideas for if i get time to give this challenge a go.
I like the screenshot which make the bulding look like its on an island, perhaps thats an idea to go with :)

Hey!

Nice to see im giving the ideas (heh) usualy the other way around!
Not sure im doing stuff in the right order but the idea was to make the scene first, then paint all the layers. Most of the stuff are still very much under construction.

-very nice looking. I'm liking the ocean layer. it looks better than the original. -I still haven't found a suitable element for animating the water myself.

Thanks for the the nice comments!

Couldnt do anything 060606 cause it was Swedens "national day" (scary huh?, Sweden is evil..heh) - had to go to 2 dinner partys and i was so stuffed i felt sick. And today I had a 5 hour meeting with a client of mine, been workin on that project all day (ish). But im working on gettin the house, rock surface and a few other things finished to night!

Ooh and by the way, Mr. CGnews - i read in the global rules about "no pirate software is to be used" (well duuh) of course not but im wondering if we need to prove we own all the software we use. I dont mind, i could take a photo of my shelf and add it to the thread if you wanted to? And yes, heh, it will have a y3k look when i post the final version!

Kenneth M

Hey all!

okey, so i've been very very lazy latey with this but i've done a few things!
When i saw what the others were doing i tought well, there goes my idea, so i started all over again (heh) So i worked with 3d a few hours now making a hotell room thats kinda trashed (will get "more" trashed later)

http://www.brothers-m.com/Temp/output1.mov

So this is a very very veeery much under construction still. Just wanted to get the "feel" for the animation, so thats why it looks so shit now (heh). What i need to fix is: The sky, the ocean, the room (model, lighting, textures..basicly everything) the front, façade (?) of the "hotel" with more holes and need more plants/green stuff (paint)

Still alot of work on the camera movment but that will be quite easy. Its just the rendering now thats a pain in ZE arse. I'll have all the time in the world starting Monday so i'll work my ass of next week to get this finished!

wip Update:

Bit over my head i think with the 3d! heh. Not sure if anyone's looked at the crappy animation i posted in the post above but the room looks "great" now and im quite happy with the outside aswell BUT! I have NO idea how to matchmove those 2 animations together! Dont have any fancy 3d tracking software just the simple tracker in Combustion, so thats basicly whats givin me a headache today. Might trash that idea actually...and make the whole comp a 2,5d animation all together.

Need to get the final comp complete before the 21st cause im going down to lovely Öland (island outside of Sweden) to get...well, really drunk for a few days!

Kenneth M

I believe that C4D will export a combustion workspace with the camera and RPF included.

Hey Cedro! Thanks for the tip! Still quite new to Cinema. (won the Studio bundle a few weeks back @ a 3dexpo/fair) But that will come in handy for future projects! Had to trash the hotelroom idea, couldnt get it to work proper. I'll have to post my entry today cause im leaving early tomorrow. And seeing all the 3d dudes making awesome animations..hehe, I wont stand a chance in this challenge but i've learnt alot!

I'll post my final in a few hours!

Silver: Sorry to hear that you gave up the hotel room idea, I think it would have been ace! Anyway, looking forward to see your seq. And sorry for this: " Glad midsommar och jag hoppas det blir bra pa oland, Borgholm antar jag?? ;) "

Cheers,
/Chris

Hey everyone! (Avalon - hehe, troligen =) )

Well this is what i've done. Im actually quite pleased (ish) with the result considering i've never done anything like it before!

I re-did the shot 3 or 4 times cause i had so many ideas and couldnt figure out which one to choose! My first idea was to leave the
scene as it was and make the camera fly towards the buildning and reveal "the city of tomorrow" behind it, making the main building to a Museum! Last idea I had was implement 3d to the shot, worked great untill i had to match the footage...wanted to rip my hair of my head!
I'll make the 3d scene into a personal project cause i really like the scene! (and the fact that i need to learn Cinema4D. Won it at a fair/3dexpo in Sweden a few weeks ago so it would be a shame not to use it!)

Dont ask whats so y3k about it =) dont really know, guess there was a virus outbreak or something and people got mental and started to put spraycans in every single microwave thinking that would cure them...hehe, anywho...

Id like to thank Jonas S (friend of mine) for giving me the rights to use his Thailand vacation stills as a few elements in the shot and Mayang.com for having excelent free, royaltyfree stock footage, google and everyone here posting in these forums!

There's still ALOT of work to do on it but i need to get up in like 4 hours to drive down to Öland (4h sleep that is) And i really need the sleep!
Hope everyone's had as much fun making this as i have! (not me pulling my hair of cause of the 3d "mistake")

Good nite, good fight and good luck!

Regards,

Kenneth M
