What would be the best technique to extract camera information
( position, focal length, etc.) from a single image.
tools, techniques, procedures?

Did you take the picture, or did someone else? If there are recognizable landmarks in the picture, it would be a lot easier than a wide open view of the sea or something similar. If you're using it for a matte painting or similar and you're not going to be doing any 3d at all, it may just be easier to eye match the scene with what you're painting over the picture. Since it is a still image, it is much easier to place things into the picture. Shows us the picture. :)
