Any of you guys seen them? I know they are not high fx films or nuttin but the reason i bring it up is that the fx they had were mostly way under par or pointless......
Transporter:
for one they had an fx artist in 2d post add the muzzle flashes and the tracers from the bullets(my only problem is it it looked cheesy, and was totally unessesary, muzzle flashes fine but tracers on every bullet? cmon) and they had some missile that was shoulder launched and it does basically a 90 degree turn in mid air and swoops in from the side.....that was wack....

anyways I just wanna know why they would chose to do all the muzzle flashes and bullets in 2d post? is it really cheaper? cuz Id figure in real life youd basically only see muzzle flashes and not each bullet and crap...i dunno it stuck with me alot....

Ronin:
lame movie, good car chase...BUT somewhere around the beginning there is a smaller car chase and this one scen where the car comes and slides sideways a lil and speeds off, well in 2d post they added this really corny smoke&dust effect with some paint program and it looks garbage.....

my whole question is why did they cheap out when it seems it would prolly be cheaper to do non cg fx such as pyroteknics and blanks?:niceone: :hammer:

I don't know if it's necessarily cheaper to do it all in post, but since these films were filmed in Europe, there are more stringent laws (I'm assuming) on the pyrotechnics and legality of shooting large caliber machine guns in a busy place (with live ammunition or otherwise). It probably costs more to acquire the license to shoot a firearm in Europe than here in North America! Plus safety equipment, etc, that the film crew may not have had.

Both of these films are in my collection.. Say what you will. :) I'm a fan of the big car sequences, and both of these films have nice cars doing some spectacular footwork (or would that be wheelwork?).

On a similar note, did you check the greenscreen on Niro and Reno in the car after Niro got shot? :)
