The first place to go is always the manual. The best place for tutorials (IMHO) is 3DTutorial.com (http://www.3dtutorial.com/xsi.php). There's some great stuff on there.

Cheers.

Hi,
I have used xsi since 2 years (after 3dsMax) abd you did an exellent choice (pass,partition....exellent for the compositing)
A link very important:

http://www.xsibase.com/

you can see for exemple this tutorial
http://www.xsibase.com/tutorials/rendering.php?detail=334
