Hi everyone. I am currently in pre production on my first short film and I had a few questions regarding copyrights. I have one character in the film watching "the jerry springer show" on tv. In another section I have a group of people playing the board game "Monopoly". Now in terms of the writing it is very important to me that these trademark images are included in the film. What are the rules about having copyrighted "TV clips" or consumer products in a short film? Do I have to "buy" them? What does that entail? Can I get in trouble for including them in the film without "buying" the rights to these images? Will festivals not accept a submission with these things included? ANy advice or info you might have on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
