looks great - December 30th, 2009, 06:00 AM

Hey. It looks great. nice effects and great look.

Nice little project you've put together here.

I'm just a little curious about the Canon lenses you used and the workflow you had w/ the camera.

Do the 5d also have hdmi out as same as the 7d has? And did you use that for getting the image-sequenses from the camera? Or was it default out of the box settings with QT h264?

I'm going to buy probably the 7d instead, but I'm not shure of what lenses to buy, the 70-200 had some really nice dof :-).

Thanks, and again, great work

I was just going to ask about the greenscreen shot. Congratulations on finishing; it has come a long way!

Hi there,

The 5D and the 7D both have HDMI out. I'm told that a good way to work with video footage from the camera is to pull the h264 files and convert them to AppleProRes for working in Final Cut (if that's your workflow).

That 70-200 will give you even shallower DOF on the 7D's cropped sensor. I'm also going for the 7D; I can live with the cropped sensor (been shooting one for years) and I'm really interested in shooting 8fps. Of course, it'll probably be a year before I can afford either. :-(

Hi Hush!

1. I had the 70-200mm before and it was a AMAIZING lens. I take some really good pictures and the IS helps me alot, specially on video (if you don't mind about the noise)... I prefer the 24-70mm because is a very use full range to work with. I recomend it but if you want a battle horse go for this Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens.

2. I use after effects to open the .mov h264 files, create the image sequences and convert to linear using the PRO LOST workflow http://prolost.com/blog/2009/9/30/pa...ear-torch.html

And yes Tom, I'm going to add the greenscreen now that I have a little more knowledge of nuke. And also going to try a camara outside the plane.

Keep you on the loop.

Hush: Personally, I'd prefer to use the EF-S 17-55 2.8 IS with a cropped-sensor camera, which will give you the equivalent wide-angle that a 24-70 would on a full-frame camera. The 70-200, however, is perfectly matched to either.

Blue: Looking forward to it. :-)
