Locking job offers - November 21st, 2009, 10:00 AM

I'm quite annoyed with the off-topic chit-chat and spamming that happens in job related posts. Would it be possible to close this threads automatically in order to stop this BS?

Thanks for listening.

If you say "pls" because it's shorter than "please" then I'll say "no" because it's shorter than "yes"

Thanks Scrimski. I've closed ALL job listing threads. There should really be no discussion on job posts. If there's something that needs to be said, they can PM the original poster.

So you consider companies looking for cg slaves as legit job postings?

Honestly, I didn't even read the thread. I would always caution against working for free anyway. I'm not the gospel leader here, but if jah wants to delete those threads, he may.

Aruna, so you know my comment was directed at the OP not you.

No, I don't and never said so.
But I do consider all that follow-up spamming as bullshit( here's a picture in case I didn't made myself clear enough).

I think it's a fair point on both sides...

I don't know quite what we should be doing about that kind of thing - although they're so unlikely to get anyone to do what they want that it's less of a worry...

And on the other side, for this kind of job posting, we really shouldn't let the threads get out of hand. Locking them and letting users contact the job posters directly is probably the most straight-forward way of doing it for now.

Sometimes even spamming bullshit gets revealing answers.

I thought the collab section was for free work, and jobs was for paying work. Shouldn't the free "jobs" either be moved to the collab section or deleted?

t's a forum, where people look for information, like in a library for instance not some chat channel, so we should try to keep a good signal-noise ratio here. I just don't see any point in 20 guys jumping on a poster who won't read all this anyway.

Job offers should be not revealed unless a mod approved them and moves to collab/free work section if necessary. Does require moderation though.
If threads slips through there is alway the possibility to report it.
