Nice work, for the next pass at your reel I would suggest removing the "energy shield" type of effect. I believe it is one of the visor presets so I would explore that preset...see the things...
Yes, I rendered them as metaball surface so I could get more volume out of the shape and also to apply a glass type material to the surface.
@alexandru no fluid sim, just particles done in houdini. Did not want to undergo the long sim times of doing a fluid sim.
