Hi everyone. I've been interested in this sort of thing for a while now and have deceided to give it a crack.

Here is my background for the VFX005 anim. Hopefully, it works out like how I see it in my head.

Crits welcomed. Will post more as it comes along.

    Best,

    Damo.

// All so far in PS 6. I'll probably put the anim together with AE 4.1 PB and ParticleIllusion SE. //

This is a grab of one of the effects in ParticleIllusion SE.

I read a post here by some one who said that " you digital effects people love to blow stuff up".

    Tis true, tis true.

    Best,

    Damo.

Doing great man, you're high contrast gives an interesting feel to the scene. Don't forget to apply some blue shades, and high contrast filters to you're particle effects after you're done with them otherwise i would think the would look wrong. Also if that explosion is happening close to the building in the background, you're gonna need to take you're newly painted dirt, and put it on a layer ontop of you're original explosion fire layer. The debris can bleed onto the dirt, but not the actualy explosion, cause it appears to be very flat when you do it that way.

This is a frame from the sequence with a bit of colour overlay.

I'm not sure if this works or not. The sky has not been put in yet.

I was thinking of giving it a dark, moody look but a bit of contrast

goes a long way. Any ideas?

This is a quicktime movie of how the background was created.

It's not really a tutorial. More of a look at the major steps for anyone who is interested.

I had to break it up into 3 files so I could upload it here.

Each one is under 1mb (quicktime 6.1)

    Spacebar to play.

Control+F (win) Command+F (mac) for full screen.

Use the Right and Left arrow keys on your keyboard to view

    frame by frame.

    Best, Damo.
