    Hi everyone

    I'm new to Nuke. Yes, I admit it.
    But what I'm trying to do, is pretty simple. I have some 3D passes I want to compose together and use them like I do in Shake or AE. Do I just merge them or do I have to dedicate every pass into a new channel? How does it work? HELP

    If you need just to composite them, I think you should just merge them the same way you did earlier

    It doesn't work that way, that's the problem. If I have let's say, color pass, AO, shadow pass, rim light, RGB pass for cc, Z-buffer and specular. How do I combine them?

    every merge node in Nuke has it's own mode. in shake all modes such as screen, multiply - are different nodes, in nuke all of them are combined in one node. so you choose a mode you need and merge. If you use Z-buffer as mask, you copy it to the channel and use this channel as mask.

    I see everything is inside the Merge node. This is true when you just want to multiply, screen or just comp. But how do I use the z-buffer as a channel? How do I use it as a mask? How do I copy the RGB pass into a single channel? and how do I use only a part of the pass. In Shake I just made a quick shape around that pass and then comped it together, but here there is no matte channel to the node that I can plug a matte into.

    First of all I advice you to read a user guide. In order to copy z-buffer or anything else to the channel - use a Copy node. Every node has it's mask input in the Control Panel Bin. So if you want to color correct anything using Z as mask, you just find the channel you had copied your z into in the Color Correct node.
