Hey guys! Im in need of some fluid help. Im trying to achieve an energy effect that needs to consume a characters body. The character has a power ring similar to the green lantern and the energy from the ring surrounds his body while he is using it. My plan was to model the character in maya and have fluid emitting from the geometry. I have the fluid look and texture down, but Im running into trouble with the dynamics. Right now its emitting from the body but not keeping any kind of shape. If possible I would like the fluid to hug the body a little tighter. I know with particles I could use goals. Anyone have some ideas on how to achieve this effect ? Here are some pictures, the first is a blast that the character shoots from his ring, the second (where im having the problem) is his body emitting the fluid.

have u tried using softbody dynamics for the shell and use fields to control the randomness of the outershell. Then use texture with semi transparency to create that type of look. Maybe that will work. Fluid is very hard to control.

2nd option would be to use cloth, but to keep its shape you will need to increase the pressure so that the cloth won't collapse. Add wind, noise and turbulence to have it move around.
