Hi,
I would like to ask you guys which is the video training that you like the best.
My preferred one is from Gnomon Workshop, created by Alex Alvarez.
What is your choice?
Digital Tutors.

I've learned a LOT about Mental Ray with Digital Tutors.....so i would have to agree there.
I agree I'm liking Digital-Tutors more and more every lesson I learn. But there are a lot of really good Gnomon tut's out there too. I guess it's all a matter of preference or opinion?
I like VideoCopilot.net Video Tutorials & Post Production a lot, the host makes learning fun and very easy to understand.
Well I guess it stems down to this saying, "there is much fish out in sea, must find one that really rocks boat only then be happy for life".... point being sample many tut's out there and find one or a select few, stick with it and progress forward positively, don't waste you're time complaining about the ones you don't like move on and find the ones that, eh hum, "rocks your boat"
I'm not speaking to anyone in general just found some threads here on VFXTalk that were downing a certain someone's gnomon DVD and he visited the post to see what was up.
Digital tutors for me. I learned a lot from maya modeling dvd's and also the mental ray dvd's. DT produces some in-depth tutorial dvd's and the explanation is clear. Didn't follow a lot of gnoman dvd's but i guess i like their digital sets series. That is the only gnoman dvd's i have followed.
In terms of preference I wouldn't mind whether it's DT, Gnoman or other training dvd as long as it teaches something new and not waste out time.
cheers
Yeah DT is taking the lead in first for their very clear video resolution on every lesson they do and the way they explain everything in detail, always crystal clear.
So if I would have to choose one, DT for me too. Although.... I don't deal in absolutes, "Only a Sith Deals in Absolutes".... LOL.
Digital-Tutors has grown on me more and more,The only thing is its(New) Tuts R only 2hours Or So. Just Not Long enough For The Money In My Opinion, If VTC Would Be More Up To date They Would Be Number One With Tut's 8Hours Or More.![]()
Escape Studios have come out with some new materials available online. Just out of interest. http://escapestudios.com/en_GB/schoo...e-courses.html
Digital tutors for me was to basic when going over Maya, but for beginner its your best bet.
Gnomon DVD are great for beginners to intermediate Maya users to help them learn some advanced Maya techniques.
But in this day in age you can find a lot of them same info online. But that's just my opinion.
Hey thanks! That site you mentioned Louie, "Escape Studios" I just looked over their web site and It sounds great and so close to me too yeah they just open a studio or training company in NYC so I'm going over there sometime soon to check'em out.
And optimus008 you're right there on the basics but I found a lot of things I did not know in some of the DVD's so I pick and choose?
And The Gnomon DVD's have a large category to choose from some really advanced stuff as well so you're right I did find some interesting tut's online for free you just have to look, that's all.
Some times it can be time consuming though and eat most of your day up? But I love finding new tut's and free is better than cheap you know? LOL!
