    Is it true?
I heard that they are(R&H) conducting written test as a first round, applicants' need to undergo an IQ test. They look at the applicants' problem solving ability & logical reasoning skills. Second round is technical test, then the last is HR.
If it is true then what kind of questions they may ask in the 1st round(Puzzles?)
I hope some of you guys may already aware of this.
Could you please share your experience?
If you have sample question paper(for Compositor/Rotoscope Artist), you can also share with us.

If it's true, why don't you apply and find out for yourself? If you're what they're looking for then you'll do alright in the tests.

Smells like urban mythology. I'd be a little surprised that the HR department didn't have better things to do than test waves of freelancers. An IQ test is hardly a good yardstick anyway. I can understand the recruitment value of a psychological profile in terms of team work ability, but measuring IQ is renouned to be deeply flawed in terms of culturally-specific learning and actual capability. At best it merely measures potential.

Yeah, it's true. They do have an IQ test here in India, but I don't know if they look at any specific scores as a criteria. What's important though, is the technical test and the way you interact with the people around you.

Think about the environment you're asking for help in though, assuming such a test did exist then it's more than likely that some people in here took it off the back of their already existing knowledge - what reason would they have to help you into a position they are competing with you for?

Catch my drift? Whilst I agree this is a friendly community and I personally spend a lot of time trying to help others here - does that extend to giving them an advantage over me in regard to getting a job I may want - hell no :P

Though I think you're in the clear anyway.

    Regards
    Matt

Interesting. My friend got a job there less than three months ago, and he didn't have to take any kind of IQ test.

Sounds like the IQ test is unique to India. I don't think a US company could get away with trying to administer one and not face a PR nightmare.

Also the US has a wealth of training programs to recruit from. My *completely uninformed guess* is that Indian companies recruit out of a less specifically trained skillset and is recruiting more from the general population for potentially great employees that may have never used a VFX application.

In which case visual problem solving aptitude tests would be helpful in narrowing the applicants.

I think im.thatoneguy hit the nail on the head, welcome to the horrible realities of why a lot of work is being farmed over there.

I am sure that's because your friend turned up to the interview wearing glasses, carrying a tome on mathematics and wearing a MENSA T-Shirt. :P

Companies in the US do this all the time (not in vfx though). I remember having to take them for a job back in college at a Phone company and a Bank.
