Position: Technical Director
6 month contract – immediate start

Aardman Animations are looking for a talented Technical Director with a primary focus on Effects and R&D to work at our Bristol studio. This position is initially for a period of 6 months with an immediate start.
The CGI department is involved principally in the production of commercials, and occasionally broadcast and short films. It is also involved in the CG aspects of Aardman’s Features slate.
You will be expected to work on effects shots within a wide range of productions. These might range from simple particle simulation, rendering and compositing to creation of custom rendering or simulation workflows.
In addition you will be expected to develop and support tools to aid the department in all areas of CG production.
You should be highly proficient in most aspects of Maya including rendering, scripting/expressions, particles, fluids, hair and cloth. Maya plug-in development (C++) including the ability to understand and support other people’s code is vital to this role.
Experience of compositing tools (After Effects, Fusion), rigging and Renderman (SL, RIB, RMS) would be a bonus.
You should be highly creative in both technical and artistic problem solving, with a positive and pro-active approach. We’d also expect you to be supportive and team focused, with strong communication skills.
