Can anyone tell me what´s the best way/software to work with fluids?
I know they can work together but I wanted an advice with whom should I start with?
I´m kind new to Maya Fluids and Real Flow.

This video compares the two but I wanted more specific information.
Hope someone can tell me something.
    Thanks a lot.
    Cheers

Realflow is a true fluid sim using particles. Maya fluid is more like an advanced screensaver. Created with good intentions but never fully realized.

Now that video is showing nparticle. Which is very different from fluid. Seems a little better but still nowhere near realflow.

Thanks but you have to admit that there are some good works done in Maya Fluids.

maya fluids? really? I knew one person that could make fluids look good...and that was because he did a lot of comp work to em.

If you mean nparticles again than I agree it is getting better.

Maya Fluids are really powerful and can look great.
I just think they are way better at simulating explosions, smoke, fire etc. and not so great at liquids.
In Realflow it is pretty easy to get a decent look with liquids fairly fast. Easier to understand and comprehend as well and the exporting to Maya is quite painless.

    I think your right.
I´ve read that Maya's fluids are one of the best in simulating gaseous phenomenon, they are not really suited to liquid simulations, but "Gentle Fury" what kind of software is best to create these gaseous phenomenon?
I think Maya Fluids have already been used in Hollywood Movies.
Do you think that investing in Maya Fluids is a lost of time?
Please explain me your point of view?
    Cheers

Ive seen good and bad things come of maya fluids. Def depends on the artist. I've seen some really nice work done with http://www.franticfilms.com/software/products/overview/ as well.

I've also seen some really nice smoke and gaseous effects done in Fusion.

My biggest problem with fluids is they are extremely slow, they don't render in mental ray, and it is really hard to find any good tutorials really showing how to utilize them.

I´m studying the video tutorials of David Schoneveld.
He made 3 DVD´s for Gnomon and now he put some free tutorials in vimeo.

I think Maya fluids is not really for artists , I am trying to do something like this but is to heavy in maya, or I don.t know how to do it quick, and all the time I have to use expresions to do something basic like smoke and fire , I think is sux . A normal CG artist dude, not geek, specialized on design " beauty of CG " or what ever, it is almost impossible to learn those ugly meanings and numbers .And when you go in Attribute editor to make those tunings is like running up and down all the time to find something...that's sux.....
by the way ...if anyone know a good tutorial or something similar for that...please I am in the middle of a project similar with that link and ...I am lock

Maya fluids its very good linking things, also you can paint attributes like fuel to set a path of fire i doing this once, a heart of fire in a local stadium.

Maya fluids and Fumefx are based in voxels, its not hard once you get the experience.

Fume its really fast to do things like this video,it comes with some quick emitters ,also you can link it with pflow and krakatoa

Maya fluids renders in mental i don´t recall if shadows but things like clouds are faster in mental.

    some tutorials

Sometimes Krakatoa will let you render Fume sims with more details since are basic points also you can sim things like sand and get a more photorealistic look with krakatoa, also its very good to do things like foam

yes...it can be...that one with painting attributes is good .
I am a bit nervous with maya , I spend many years working on it and all the time when I want to do a simple task it;s and up in a huge, complicated, multiple tacks impossible to remember all ....right know I am reading from this dude , fumefx vs maya fluids ..of course render time in maya for fluids it is a enormous computing power consumer .... http://www.vfxtalk.com/forum/maya-fl...fx-t21521.html
