Nuke doesn't actually support R3D files yet though. It's coming in 5.2 so you'll have to transcode them in an app such as Red Alert, Cine or Rushes. Final cut can also interpret the r3d files and spit out prores or whatever works for you.

dam, but do they loose any quality in the conversion? & do any of the adobe products (after effects, premiere pro), or fusion support R3D yet? Can virtual dub convert? lol
Cheers,

Oh don't worry I found a link for virtual dub here it is for others trying to convert r3d files:

If you want to use r3d in Nuke you have to convert your r3d files in ProRes format (4444 is better now), or in dpx sequence. But you still lost the posibility to revert on r3d, if you made any changes in RedAlert or RedCine, without doing a new export that is time consuming.
5.2 should support r3d natively, like FCP, premiere. But After effects CS4 still not support them too (or I missed something...), but we still waiting for this version since the NAB...
Colors 1.5, from FCP suite, now support R3D natively, so you can grade your footage precisely with Colors if needed
I hope this will help you.

Works fine here... just download the plugins from red.com
Right, thanks for the info, but btw, AEcs4, is so slow that I prefer avoid the use of r3d inside it in 2K or 4K format
But thanks for the advice !
how good is Nuke 5.2! r3d files here i come...
