i saw the ILM video of sigraph 2007 and they made lens flare with the specular pass on tranformers, and i want to do the same thing..
i rendered an iphone from max and i want to know if there is any way to apply automatic lens flares based on the brightest pixel of the image,....
i have a friend that use nuke and he told me that nuke can doit...
    anyway to doit in fusion????

You would need to create a Convolution Node that takes an image input that would 'stamp' the image with that picture.

For instance you could have the spec pass and pump that into your image based covolution node with a photo of the type of flare that you want to stamp into the brightest pixels.

    a convolution is a blur

I don't know if fusion has image based convolution node or not...

you would probably have to write a plugin

I think he wants a lens flare to appear based on the brightness of a pixel.

My main concern would be to tell the center of a lens flare to follow the brightest pixel.
Once that's out of the way, controlling the intensity and scale of a flare based on brightness shouldn't be that hard I guess...

    This could be interesting...

saphire OFX are also good You have color mask and alfa mask and (i think) there is auto-track for the brightest pixel.

as for convolve node.. I think You can fake it with custom tool?

    EDIT:
In shake to Fusion transition Guide - shake's convolve is in Fusion as Custom Filter... maybe that will help someone just a little bit

still i'd like to see the workflow to a case in question

    cheers

It would be interesting to see this done natively in Fusion.
