what do yo mean?,activate raytrace in render dialog
If you work with mia_material in mental ray you can set the reflection`s max distance which define some thing like radius for the reflection so that you can make the reflection truely in something like ocean . the default shaders works fine for the mirror , steel , etc .. but not for an ocean . i want to limit my reflection .
You can do Fresnel but i donpt know if distance maybe you can ouput another layer in mental for that
take a plane for the True Reflection ,go to hypershade > mental ray > meterials > dgs_material.
go to dgs_mat attribute setting apply minimal change you found perfect True Reflection.
