Are you a full time or contract employee? What software do you use, and would you prefer to be fulltime if you were contract, and vice versa?

To answer my own question, I'm a freelance/contract compositor who works primarily on discreet FFI systems, with Shake compositing where-ever needed.

I'm currently a student, but have done some unpaid work using After Effects, as well as using Boris RED.

Hoping to get work doing freelance work when I graduate this summer.

Been employed for 4 years in a company in Sweden, moved to London and been a freelancer in Nuke since I moved. Really enjoying the freedom and the new experiences of working in many different projects as a freelancer.
I think it will take some time until I want to be in a staff again.

I'm a contractor .. and after the last two days, I don't think I will ever be again?

Don't ask, but we're hosing off the lawyers ...

I'm kinda a Jack of all Trades when it comes to software ... most experience in AE and Combustion, but have and can use Commotion and Flame systems. Also do a LOT of Photoshop - matte painting is kinda my bag - I love it Also do some Animation and Dynamic Maya work when needed.

*sigh* I want more film work :emotion:

hmm ... same here.. and i'm from Melbourne. It's hard to get into the industry here isn't it.. damn.

I am a fulltime employee in IT and part time designer in web, graphics and 3d. Have started my own company recently and doing freelance work parttime. Experienced in maya, 3dmax, photoshop, illustrator and flash. Still learning animation in maya and vfx, compositing in combustion. I love selflearning because not enough time to enrol in a full time course in an institute.
