You have some really good stuff in there and some that need more work. I would make a best of the best selection. I really like the day night shot and the wire removal. I'm not sure about the greenscreen because the background move so fast that it looks like the kid is flying I wont move the background unless you move both cameras in the same way.

I would highly recommend searching our forum here for suggestions on what to look for in demo reels.

Right off the bat I would suggest that:

    1. Its far too long. If its over 2min. You better be a well established company with just endless volumes of phenomenal work in order to make 2 or more minutes interesting. Professionals have maybe a minute to a minute and a half reel, including bumps. Students, no more than a minute I would say. You just don't have enough stuff to fill up anything more than that.

    2. Your breakdowns are far too fast, and transition from the effect, to the original plate too quickly, too many times. This is especially apparent in your wire removal shots, where the transition back and forth between the painted out effect is so fast, I almost didn't see that you had gone in an removed a wire.

    3. No title cards introducing the next effect. Chances are those looking at your reel, can understand what a wire removal shot is, or a particle shot would contain. It just looks tacky and takes up way too much time. By the time your introductions have finished and moved on, I've probably read the same title 7 or 8 times.

If you can shrink this reel down to a minute, or 30 seconds, and find only your best work and put it in, I think this could do well for you. Good luck.

Don't forget, use the search feature at the top of this site, and search for demo reel guidelines. We've gone over and talked about a lot of these concepts and which ones work and which ones fail.

wow....well dotcommer said most of what I was going to say....to elaborate a little tho. This is the most confusing reel I have ever seen!

Half the time I don't know what is actually being done to the shot, or it flashes by so fast I couldn't see it, spending about 15 frames to show a wire removal (which done right is not easy) then you spend 20 secs on a simple license plate replace!

Like dotcommer already said strip this thing down to about 30 secs and you could have something you can show to a potential employer.

Also, a black title card with white block letters is all that is every needed...one at the head, one at the tail with your information clearly labeled. The fonts you are using are reserved for print and websites about cats. Please use only Ariel Black, Verdana, or any other sans serif block type.....and don't do dissolves, stretchy effects or the premiere fractal dissolve thing. Cuts only! In editing Dissolves are to indicate the passage of time or a change of scenary, wipes are for george lucas to beat off to.....end of story!
