Not surprising... they've been neglecting that package for a while now.

It's a shame, because it would be a cool app for it's price nowadays if Autodesk had keep it's development. Now on that price range your only option is AE and there is a bit of gap between their price range and the one from any other solution like Toxik, Fusion or Nuke.

Mark Petit from Autodesk on creativecow.com combustion forums said something that we shouldn't excpect to see any new version of this software and that they only could recommend to look into Toxik which apparently is still under development even though it ships for free with Maya.

Toxik has suffered from multiple false starts but it is now a fantastic piece of technology, it has finally found its place as Maya's best friend and is finally seeing some traction in the user community. We have some good stuff in the pipe for it, i hope you guys keep an eye on it !

I was forgetting that Toxik is coming along with Maya, that should give it an interesting plus, I probably will start to study it sooner.

what a shame, I am at a loss I think, I haven't learned any after effects and I saved up enough money to buy combustion from a mate now that I have it I just stumbled upon the fact it's not supported anymore.
