For texturing, it sort of reminds me of the ship from episode 1 haha, you could chrome it out. I think that as sleek as it is it doesn't need a crazy texture, maybe a procedural and just model some more components on it and have them textured differently to make it more detailed. Might make a simple texture less obvious. Then maybe do an AO pass with the distance set really high and use that as the wear in places where parts touch. Just a though, hope it helps.

thanks! i made some progress on the opening shot. the animation is not final but its the basic idea of how i want the first shot to go. still need to replace the snowboard and add a bright jet exhaust to the ship and the snowboard. i also added in a fast moving landscape to the scene to give it more speed.

my idea surrounds the soldier being chased by a low flying small ship. the whole chase is set at breakneck speeds and ends up leading to a finale shot of the snowboarder jumping off a cliff toward an expansive tundra/crevice or something like that.

so far i started on the beginning matte painting and opening shot. the soldier flys by and then the chase begins.

included below is the basic mattepainting i did for the first shot and the draft comp of the first 4 seconds.

ill keep this updated whenever i make progress and as always, CC is welcome and appreciated!

I absolutely love this shot, the speed and camera shake feel awesome. he wizzes by in just a couple frames, it's great.
