This is the sixth project of the year.

The primary goal of this project is to create a digital replica of a weathered prop that is indistinguishable from the original. This project puts an emphasis on weathered textures coupled with creating photo-realistic shaders and lighting. We were given 10 days to complete this project.

I used a military spade I found in a local thrift shop here in Courtenay, and recently broke the handle on another shoot storming the beach in a WW2 epic, soon to be released.

    Comments and feedback welcomed.

what about geometry?looks a little to perfect.also looks like with no thickness.

Do you have some photos of the real thing?

Thanks. I'm not exactly sure what you mean about the geometry...

Well if you look at the real thing it have no perfect edges this can be more noticeable in the tip of the arrow, not sure how far you wan to go..

You can simulate micro detail making a copying of the diffuse map and use as displacement with low values

the textures are good, but the materials need work. They still have that 3d "shiny" quality to them. Try messing around with your specular settings.

The real spade does have shiny and specular qualities to it, maybe they could be a little more subtle. I finished this project a year ago, I doubt I will revisit it anytime soon. But I guess it's never done. Thanks.
