    hi

we are thinking of buying a renderfram rendering mostly 3d max with deadline as a rendermanager. now my question is which operative system (windows version) is best to have on the rendernodes? windows 2008 server/windows 2003 server or windows 7? there is no information if max/deadline is supported on windows 2008 server. or is there not a big difference between those windows versions?

    thanks for your help
    /joe

We use a server 2008 machine as our repository/Pulse box and it works fine.

As for the nodes, at the moment we're using a fairly gutted incarnation of Vista Business x64, which works great as well. I imagine Win 7 would be even better (since with Deadline's power management enabled the farm goes down/comes up a lot, and Win 7's boot times are ridiculously short).
