Im being contracted to do some "one pages" which basically are 1 page flyers. To basically pitch a few tv shows for this company im freelancing for. Now i dont know what to charge, i mean these are print and i basically charge $35/hr for video work so should i go cheaper? The last thing i did for them was create 8 animated maps which i charged $2200 for(works out to be 7 hrs a map at $250 per map)......so im thinking i chouldnt charge more than $250 per "one page" cuz its print but that sounds cheap.....i dunno.

or am i just looking at this all wrong? im just scared of going way too high but also going too low to where im undercutting others in my field or selling myself short.

are we talking full color poster materials or 2 color leaflet/flyers?

a poster commands more, as it must be essentially perfect. a poster will always be scrutinized more than anything else, so it require just that much more effort. a shitty poster can doom a project

i usually charge about 135 p/h for large scale print, 95 p/h for magazine scale, and 200 p/h for 3d & video. i average about 2.5 hours for regular poster layout, and 1 additional hr of client tweak time.

    p/h....per hour?

well these are only going to be seen by 10 people maybe...they are 8x11 leaflets...

i have to do 2 leaflets and do both sides for each

    is $150 per leaflet good?

I see you say you do $200/hr for 3d & video? either ive been informed wrong on what i should be charging or im going REALLY cheap, someone suggested on here for those animated maps i did(10 seconds, 2d animation) i charge about $2200 for 8, that works out to be $35/hr and it took me 7-8 hours each....am i cheap? i wish there was some sort of place i could go to ask people about rates......cuz i dont wanna go high or too low.

yes, colorado. i charge more than the average.. simply because there is less work here, and the jobs dont last long. the average job is a quick product demo, which can be finished in 2-3 hours, or a simple flying logo in even less time. if i was able to pull 40+ hours per week, then i would be doing 35 no problem. there is near zero '3d scene' in this area, as well as near zero 3d work to match. i dont even know anyone else in this city that does 3d for hire and population is ~70,000.

    edit/job length

Ok so i quoted them $170per each (1 page 2 sides)

should i be charging per hour or per job?

like should i pretty much forget about what i charge per hour and charge them what i see fit per job?
