    Hi,

I am new to Nuke and I am asking myself what is the best way to move a whole sequence (positioned on the timeline depending on the frame numeration) to start at frame 1 for exemple (or could be every other frame). The other question is, what is the best method to render a sequence beginning with 0001 in its numeration, no matter what global timeline I am using - so for exemple the file sequence in the read node starts with 2352 and I do not want to change the global timeline position (like mentioned in my first question), but I want to write the new sequence beginning with 0001.
And what if I am offsetting a sequence to start at 1 with the help of the retime node and I want to work on the flow before the offset and after it - how can I switch my timelines to display the accordant timeline ?
Sorry for sounding so newbie, but I used Fusion before, where you can easily change global timeline controls in the read node.

    Thanks for your help !!

for now your easiest way is probably using a TimeOffset
a dopesheet was announced for 6.2, which should help you reorganize the timing of whole parts of a tree including keyframes

your sequeuence is 2501-2578 for example
it means that its 78 frames long ((2578-2501)+1)
    time offset: -2501+1
    global time range: 1-78

OR in the read node you can just select "frame" -> "start at frame" put "1" - the fastest way.

In both cases, the Retime node gives you the most control and flexibility. If you have several input sequences that start on different frames, after the Read nodes put a Retime node that has the first parameter of the Output Range set to 1 and all of them will be positioned to begin on frame 1 (if I understood correctly you are already doing this).

If you want the rendered sequence frame numbers to start from 1 (and the project frame range doesn't begin on 1) insert a Retime node before the Write node and set the project frame range as the Input Range and then set the first parameter of the Output Range to 1.

AFAIK the only way to work on two different frame ranges is to set the Viewer's frame range to include them both and the just move from one part of the timeline to another by clicking on it.

Scratch that. You can do this with multiple Viewers. Set the Viewers to display different frame ranges and then just switch from one Viewer to another when you want to work on different parts of the timeline.
