I was planning to do more in depth breakdown video but really can't find time for it at the moment. Anyway, here's couple of Mocha screen grabs.

Nothing fancy here. Just the camera movement & zoom. Motion was tracked near the breaking point.

This one took time as I had to separate the track to multiple parts. Some 3d tracking software might've worked better for this but what I really just needed was the camera shake and some z-movement too. The z-movement can be seen from the smoke layers that feel like moving towards camera. They're really not moving in comp's z-axis but only scaling up. By the way, the idea of the interference in the camera's image came from my laziness of correcting tracking errors due to fast moving footage.

Nothing special here either. There are three layers, two for hiding the skijumping platform and Puijo Tower from the horizon, and one for a good track. I don't know why I tried to conform the spline to the shape of the electricity line's mast as a simple square would've worked as well. Some reflex / habit I guess.![]()
Very cool! Lets get some more entries!
Hi there,
I know this video says it is 9 months old but it's only been live for about 3. The rough cut was uploaded to get feedback from friends and the fine cut with FX wasn't made live until late November. Hope it qualifies.
Anyway, nearly every shot has had treatment from Mocha. A lot of stabilisation (it was the first time I used a crane). And a lot of paint. Like the piano shot and every shot from above. There were lots of dolly pipes to be removed. Also a bit of roto mainly for grading. The titles were 3d.
Hope you like it.
Hello guys,
I have a question.
Does The contest run through february 28 too ?
So it finishes on Feb. 28 at 23h59 ?
I'am making a short film for this contest and i want to know if i'll have the time to finish it ;-)

Well the original intent if this contest was to see creative creations using mocha. Since there are no entries created for the contest yet we will have to regroup and extend the contest. I don't think it's fair to only have a couple entries done before the contest. So redo in order. Only original content please.
Hello Gentle Fury,
Yes, my content is original.
I made a short movie specially for the contest with roto and tracking using mocha pro.
I just want to know if i have the monday 28 to work on the short movie before the contest ends. I have a some shoots to work on to have a good result.
I understand for the number of entries and the fair of the contest if there wasn't enough entries. So i hope some people will show their works on this monday ;-).
Best regards.
If we suddenly get a bunch of entries tomorrow then we can call it. Otherwise we will have to extend it and try to get more people involved.
hi, i am Anbu
I received this shot to remove the chopper shadow.
I decided to start it from mocha.
I tracked the shot on layer basis and then took the track details to fusion.
Meanwhile I prepared the clean-plates in photoshop for the layers.
In fusion we joined it altogether, the overall process took me nearly 48 hours.
Hello Gentle Fury,
I see there is only two entries by now. Mine is still in post-production.
Do you plan to extend the contest ?
If not could you tell me the timezone GMT do you depend for the end of the contest ?
Best regards.
Hello guys,
This my entry for the contest.
Hope you like it.

WOW! That was awesome!!! Really well done!! How long did that take you?
i got the chance to attend the release of mocha pro in chennai, india. Its really nice to see the way it is demonstrated. I think it is good for 2d tracks.
Hello Gentle Fury,
Thanks a lot for your opinion about my work. ;-)
In fact, when i saw the contest, i prepared the shooting in my free times during the first week. I wrote the story and a very simple shooting script.
I made some track testing with the watch. I tested using green background with and without trackers, and with a black background in the watch.
The black background was the simplest and best way to integrate the screen touch interface. I was afraid for the tracking but mocha track it very well.
I filmed on 4 days (3 or 4 hours per day because of the daylight decreasing.) I needed to have the same day lighting (cloudy, i mean) so i waited for the good day to shoot each time.
I work on the sfx during 4 or 5 days in the evening to late at night.
The planning i made the first week helps me a lot for the shooting and the sfx.
I'am happy if you like the short film.![]()
