    Who creates the LUT for a movie ?

    How is LUT different from color correction ?

    A LUT you can basically think of as a preset. Usually the colourist will create them. However, the DoP is very involved with the look creation and often the director.

    So the colourist will do the grade then once they're happy export a LUT. Which can then be applied to an image. This will help give an idea of how well it will hold up with the final grade.
    Especially with extreme looks such as in 300, The Spirit etc.

    LUT is a technical stuff; not a "look" or "style".
