    Hi there!
This is my first post here in VFXTalk.com, i really love this website! This is my first compositing shot. It has 2 3D (Maya) airplanes and some meteor in the background. They are composited in a video shot of my parking lot. Everything was composited in Combustion 3.0. There is some color correction and the video was stabilize a little bit. All the particles effects are also done with Combustion. Just tell me what you think of it!
    thank you!

Hi FizzMagik, and nice to have you here.

Your comp is looking great to really be your FIRST comp!

about your clip: Shadow of that upper airlane seems to dissappear few frames too early. You could also add some interaction bethween you 3d models and background video; tree on the right might move litlle when plane passes it,fire could reflect from cars etc..what do you think?

    Hi again,

well, I think it's pretty easy to paint out top of that right side tree so that you can see the sky behind it? then copy that tree ( before painting it out and paste it to new layer top of that sky-layer. Then just animate some rotation to that tree or maybe bend it someway?..you should also redo those airplane shadows to match better with those cars-but I guess you have noticed that allready?..I hope this helped

    Hello!
Yes in fact the shadow of the right airplane doesnt match with the cars on the side, this is the first thing i'm going to change. I'll try to duplicate the tree as you said and bend it in some way. Thanks for the ideas i'll try to do something good with all this .

A couple of crits from me.....

The smoke looks almost wireframe... It could do with being a lot more billowy than it is at the moment...

The sparks on the ground start when the aeroplane isn't even touching... It looks like it touches, bounces, and then the sparks start while it is in the air on the bounce. The sparks are also coming over the top of the bit of wing - it feels more like they should be underneath...

One last thing.... the shadows seem to be being cast on a flat plane - the cars on the right, or in the distance don't seem to be affecting them. I'd suggest building 'shadow-catching' objects, which are roughly the shape of the cars. When you render your shadows, make sure that your objects are casting shadows on all of these.
