    Hey all,

I'm really pleased to finally find a matchmoving forum. I'm been tracking shots in the dark for too long!

I've got a question regarding some reformatted footage:

My footage originated from a Sony HDC 1500 on a CIneflex Heli Rig. The camera is full 1920x1080 on 3 2/3" sensors. But the shots were recorded on a Panasonic P2 system which crunches them down to 1440x1080 with a 1.33:1 pixel aspect ratio (I know, not cool.) I want to work in a square pixel world. So I'm reformatting back to 1920x1080 with a 1:1 (square_ pixel aspect ratio.

My question is, if I do this can I then treat the footage as though it originated on the camera? In other words, can I use the camera's sensor size and lens focal length as though it had never been reformatted to 1440?

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Cheers!

    W

as you'r not changing the image aspect ratio of the gate and/or recorded image (both stay 16:9) you should be fine
