I think it's time for me to join Marie and so many others here on the site; So here comes my showreel. As I'm still a student this is my first serious showreel. You can download it here:
    http://www.brainspark.se/publik/showreel.mov (13,2Mb, QT - sor.3)

BTW, thanks for the VFXChallenges! Their giving you good assignments with source footage and a lot of inspiration. Some of you will probably enjoy the breakdown of my "Day for Night"-entry that I start with.

All crits & comments are welcome!

    David,

Good work and clearly put together. Did you film the last three shots with your school's equipment? Looks like excellent quality footage...

The 3rd (guy in corridor) and the last shot (guy in blood) are all shot with my own DV camera - a Canon XL1s (the school owns one of those too, but it's easier for me to use my own of couse). It's a really nice camera for being a DV cam that is...
The same goes (camera wise) for the greenscreen:ed guy in the second last shot (the tilt down to the speech holder). The source background plate (with the woman) is from the feature "Legally Blonde" though (ripped from the DVD).

Well then, I tip my hat to you. Good control over contrast with DV

Really tidy job, David, as always. Nice oldschool Moby track (there was once a time where you couldn't go a day without hearing a track off that album on tv or in an Oliver Stone film, nowadays I'd almost forgotten about it). The keys are fantastic, particularly considering you shot them on miniDV. Were any third party keyers used? I love the shot with the cars - it has a really great sense of movement. Did you make the reel to put out to any companies?

    Thanks for the good feedback!
I will put up the whole shortfilm on the net when I got time, within some weeks at least... Of course I'll post a link to it in the gallery section of this site so you know. It's about 10 minutes and will be available in a streaming format so you don't have to download it as a big file.

i watched ur movie david, give me a great impression of ur composition in it.especially the shot when the car hit the girl, really fantastic.

but something confused me, is it a story about a mad man who was so sad about the traffic accident of his girlfriend and maybe he did it by himself,(i am sorry that though i wacthed if for 3 times, i still haven't got the real meaning),if it is,where the blood came from, the girl? all u do in the film before the car hit shot just made me a misconception that the boy killed the girl and he was so regretful and mad about what he did but at last the car hit the girl. what i want to know is , is the man became mad and killed the girl then be sent to the hospital or he saw what happen to his girlfriend and because of that he became mad? and what about the car tried to hit the man too.

and the other thing is that about the editing rhythm, it's very slow and redundant in some shots, maybe just cut a few frames at the end or begin of these shots off and cut off some useless shot, it will become better. and as i think when it goes to the tangly scene(where the women scream, the police alarm etc in the bg sound),it should break out in edit, i mean with the shot around the man, we should combine it with such like lots of close-up shaking flashing and so on to express the mad and chaos but not only just the bg sound and the light flashing. i think.
i dont konw do i express myself well but that is just what i feel. totally i watched 7 times, i like it.every shot we shoot when we r studying in school is our painstaking effort ,with little money, few person, miniDV but have to do good even great work.
    great work david.

    *forgive my english* hehe
