VFXTalk has learned that IRIDAS will be making a new sequence browser application available for FREE in the near future.

According to our information (unconfirmed), the application allows users to browse through large file structures quickly without having to manually open or review individual files.

Frame sequences are displayed as thumbnails and can even be animated by dragging over the image with your mouse or by using your scroll wheel.

    Finding Sequences
You can navigate through your folders by clicking on the drives and directories listed in the left hand pane. If you prefer, you can enter the file path manually in the file path field.

The three buttons at top left are for “previous,” “next,” and “up” when navigating through your folder hierarchy.

The main window displays the contents directories and is scalable using the two sliders at the top of the window. This allows you to determine how many files to view in the Window at once.

    Using Wildcards
At the top of the screen SequenceBrowser has a file path field and a search / options field. For example if you type in D:\footage in the file path field and press Go (or < ENTER >). A set of frame sequences will then appear in the main window. Let’s say there are 60 sequences in that directory; some are tga, format and some of them are jpg. You can narrow the search in the search field. In this example, if you replaced the wildcard after the dot with “jpg”, SequenceBrowser will then list only the jpg sequences. (*.tga will list only the tga sequences etc.)

You can also replace the first wildcard. For example “dolphins*.*” will show you all sequences starting with “dolphins.”

    Supported File Formats
SequenceBrowser shows all files and supports the following formats for thumbnails.

    ° Cineon
    ° DPX
    ° IHSS
    ° JPEG High
    ° JPEG Low
    ° JPEG Maximum
    ° JPEG Medium
    ° Lightwave IFF (compressed)
    ° Lightwave IFF (uncompressed)
    ° Maya IFF (compressed)
    ° Maya IFF (uncompressed)
    ° PNG
    ° SGI RGB (compressed)
    ° SGI RGB (uncompressed)
    ° Softimage PIC
    ° TGA
    ° TIFF
    ° Wavefront RLA
    ° Windows Bitmap

We were lucky enough to also get our hands on this screen shot of SequenceBrowser ... Not sure if this is the final product, but it looks promising! click here for screen shot

this looks fantastic. i've been waiting for an app like this for years. it's always a pain having to wait for ps to open just to check a tiff or tga. sequence support sounds great too.

keeping an eye on this. thanks for the headsup Paul!

Hot. I was always a fan of Iridas.. Never got a chance to actually purchase a license for playing back. I should look into it again.
