Has any one come across a gizmo that I can use to animate text writing on like say for a computer booting up? Basically I want to write a paragraph out and have it automatically type on as the sequence plays out.

I know. I just really didn't want to got through AE. It seems like someone could have worked some sorta of gizmo in nuke out to do it.

You could make a rotoshape that reveals the letters. Not so useful when someone wants to change the text.

I am sorry to say this but there are some things that are easier and faster to go out to AE for, especially when you are doing moGraph work.

you could try typing out your full text, then ammending it with one of the TCL 'String' functions... (Depending on how you want the text to appear.) Use (Frame) as the part of the variable to give it a countdown....

    Or you could use AE...
    Or a mask.

If you actually care about the TCL method - ask me... I'm not going to bother researching what the exact code is unless it's going to be useful to you.

Personally - I'd go with AE. Seems like a motion graphics job to me.

This is just for giving you some idea, if you do the coding with python, it's easy manipulating time and array. See the attachment .nk script.
Again if you can write python code then u can modify it to fit your need.

    cheers
