Vue Infinite - still required as matte painter skill?

Hi Guys.

I'm currently entering matte painting industry. Having knowledge of 3d Max, digital painting and Photoshop I'm also thinking what other skills are usually required by an experienced matte painter. I realize that experience in the matte painting craft is essential , which I have to small degree, but can you help me out with one question I have: Is there still point of learning Vue Infinite? As far as I know right now the software is build in into Maya and 3d Max therefore how useful would it be learn it from the scratch? Is it still used a lot in the VFX studios?

Different strokes for different folks. Personally, i would learn the basics (as a minimum). Vue is great for bashing out matte layout ideas for paint overs etc. A general rule of thumb knowledge + skill = win. Always be learning.

I would strongly suggest to look into camera projection in Nuke, Maya or Cinema4D.
